ID3v1? v2? Metadata? How about field-type identif?
« on: October 31, 2002, 10:57:26 am »

Hi,

It would be great if there were a little signifier beside each field (in Properties, etc.) which would tell what sort of storage method applies. For instance, I sometimes don't know if I should invest time using certain fields becuase I'm not sure if they're going to be stored as Media Jukebox Metadata (proprietary) or as ID3vX.X. Knowing what fields are what would be very helpful.

Or, perhaps more practically, break all the displayed properties down into primary divisions of: ID3v1, ID3v2, Metadata. The best tag-editing standalone programs do this and there's good reason for it.

The problem is that Media Jukebox supports a lot of formats other than mp3, so it's up to each input plugin to decide how to store DB information.

However, if a certain plugin isn't mapping MJ fields to "standard" fields well, let us know and we'll try to fix it.

Thanks.
