Alternate service
« on: December 03, 2002, 08:31:04 pm »

Howdy Folks,

You could take a look at weblisten.com, the have a variety of accesplans, all auto terminating, ranging from a year "all there is" to as little as 2 songs. Their collection largely exceeds that of emusic.

Greetings,

i know it and used it last year.
A 100% LEGAL SITE.

Tags are a great catastrophe at weblisten.
You need to make an artist folder and an album folder before downloading an album.
If not ,have a nice time....

not sure.
If you are organised.
Look at what you want first .Everytime make an artist folder with the album folder inside it.
Only AFTER you did it take one month and start to  fill your download manager and download.
I got 10.000 songs in one month last august.Yes ten thousands

Just to let you now that since one week or so the tracks are tagged... apparently all of them.

By the way, can I ask you which download manager and internet browser do you use with Weblisten? I can only download 2 tracks at a time with Internet Explorer and 8 tracks at a time with Netscape... and no download manager seems to work.

Cheers,

Listening to: 'Dixie McGuire' from 'The Day Finger Pickers Took Over The World' by 'Chet Atkins & Tommy Emmanuel' on Media Jukebox

I have a friend who ,with a nigth download night had the same problem.
It was not last August  that i used it ,but in august last year.
I had a lot of problem with this site.
But Netscape4 and GetRight was the winning team.
I was not able to use GetRigth using IE.
On the left of the english home page there is a link to download help and they give a list of download manager ,LeechGet  is the one they put first.
Maybe you can not use a download manager with nightand week-end deal.
Now if you have a month ,this is really not a good deal if there is no way to use a download manager.
I will use my ID accompt to send them an emai and ask them.
Answers are not fast and in a very 'esoteric' english but they do answer you.
If you like metal ,download Baron Roja ,an exellent spanish band

Hey, It is me Lucy again.

I purchased Weblisten.com's Bono-night service last night for 1.69 dollars for 8 hours service.

I thought the deal was great before I started downloading. But somehow I now feel "inadequate" now.their tracks are in mp3 and asf for you to download. mp3 128k while asf(windows media) at 64kbps....i used Enspot to check the mp3 files and it show the yellow color which means "not bad"

Download is not fast enough, but i understand because i live far away from Europe.

each track can only be downloaded once.

The bigest problem is still sound quality....I am not sure if I can tell the difference. but there still some difference from my 192kbps songs ripped from my own CDs. But the sound quality from internet music has not always been supergood though.

But I like their collection. They REALLY REALLY have every thing I wanted !

Hey Zevele, how could you downloaded 10,000 songs per month then? What method did you use? their speed is low!

I was lucky that I did not purchased the 30 dollars plan last night

There Are A Couple Setups Wrong IN LeechGet
Go To OPTIONS
Scroll Down To MONITORING
Check The 2 Boxes
Make Sure To Catch *.* Filetypes
Under Do Not Catch Make Sure MP3 Isnt There
Take Out MP3..It's In There 2 Times..Take Them Both Out
You May Want To Add .EXE And .ZIP And .HTML So It Avoids Those Downloads Too
Scroll Up To DIRECTORIES
Set A Default Download Directory
Scoll Up To Authorization..I Entered The www.weblisten.com ..My Username And Password..Not Sure If This Necessary
Scroll Up To Additional....Click Enable Silent Mode
Scroll Up Appearance...Uncheck All The Boxes..Stuff Popping Up During D/L (Pain)
Scroll Up To GENERAL: Check The First 3 Top Boxes..Uncheck The Updates (Big Pain When The Puter Starts Up..Check The Auto Save & Ask Before Boxes...Other Than That A Few Of The Settings Are A You Gotta Try Em Like Em Thing..Hope That Helps

i think that others download manager do not work with night deal.
they are mp3 128 kps lame i think.
Sure they do not sound like your 192 VRB made mp3 ,Lise. No secret ,here. 192 VRB is the best you can get.
Now you got let say 10 full cds for $1,99 , not bad i think.
Far from the $120-180 you would have pay them in a shop.

Anyway i agee to say that this site is ...well...a little  primitive

I used Encspot to check the encoder of those songs. And it reported that they are encoded by Frxxxx fast encoder...that means the same musicmatch uses.

Well, with DSP, the songs from Weblisten seem good though. Somehow I feel sorry that I downloaded 10 albums from their site for only $1.69 in eight hours.

I do think they can charge more. For only $1.69 it seems still good even without good tagging..their song tags are really bad....if the song name is too long , they skip several words and replaced them by "..."!

Overall, good . But I still would not choose the 30 dollars plan not because of money, but because of poor tagging and inavailability of using download manager. You know yesterday I spent 8 hours sitting infront of my computer supervising each download - 124 downloads! time consuming
