Any hopes of a mp3pro input plugin?

Suggesting APE to someone interested in MP3 Pro is like offering water to a fish.

So, fish never get thirsty? ;D
LOL
You are correct, but unless one is going portable HDD space (and thus file size) is becomming a non-issue as costs drop. That was my point.
Then again I used to be a telemarketer so I was trained to sell you something you don't really want :P

I'm with iCamp on this one.
Geo Buz: I would recommend you give a try to Ogg. It is smaller than mp3 and unlike mp3PRO I personally find it to sound better (only at a lower bitrate though, like 48-96. The higher the bitrate, the smaller the difference, at least to my ears).
Like mp3PRO it has some drawbacks : this is no major format and only one player support it (and it doesn't really look 'cutting-edge' to me : http://www.neurosaudio.com/index.aspx)
BUT, it's patent-free, if you care about that.
As for AAC, does it really sound that good? Is it really that small? These are not rhetorical questions, I'm genuinely asking.
iCamp:
Ogg is a good suggestion for anyone looking for slightly smaller file sizes. I also agree that Ogg can outperform MP3.
AAC is, IMO, very similar to Ogg. The file sizes are, however, noticably smaller at the same bit rate. Performance is very good as well. It's well on its way to being the next standard and it's a shame no plug-in exists for MC.
LonWar:
If you want something that is smaller then mp3 and sounds the same or better why not wma?

OK. Then you have to tell me how you make your AAC files, because the one I made with the Nero plug-in are not that small and sound REALLY bad. I think I must do something wrong :-[
