Next track !!
« on: October 16, 2003, 04:33:06 am »

Im not sure if this is a bug or me unaware of the options or been addressed in latrer versions.

if i have a list of tracks in Playing now. if i hit ctrl+n(next track) it advances in the order of the track number.

NOW if i rearrange the track order by clicking on the Rating column.

Hitting Ctrl+n STILL plays the tracks in track number order where clearly it should be playing them in the order that is displayed.

the little number superscipted in the columns clearly shows SEQ as higher number than whatever column was selected as sort criteria.

Is it not reasonable to expect the playing order in the Playing now list to reflect whatever criteris was selected..ie play in the order of whatever column has a superscipt of 1.

(BY superscipt i mean the little number that appears to the above right of any column clicked for sort order)

.....Still using MC 9.1.265 ( has this issue been addressed in later builds ??)

After sorting, you will need to right click and select Update Order to refresh the track playback order.

It appears you are correct ...but...it took 2 extra steps.

select all tracks, right-click(update order)....does not seem very intuitive to me.

why cant it play as its displayed in Playing Now JRiver ?

or to put it another way why does it not update the sort automatically in this instance.

That's not always desired.  Sometimes I sort to find something, and I wouldn't want to lose my playback order in that case.

(p.s. you don't have to select all before doing Update Order)

i stand corrected...its just one step, update order.

i imagine you are right Matt.....if there was a custom playlist in a certain order, clicking on the column bars would irreversibly change the order....not a good thing.

good call.
