Streaming stops
« on: December 22, 2002, 09:23:16 am »

Wondering if anyone has seen this or has any suggestions. Sometimes (but with a fair degree of consistency -- typically after an hour or two), MJ (8.0.393) will be happily playing music being streamed from another system on my home LAN and it will just stop playing.  (The playing song shows that it is "stopped.")

You can still see all the files on the remote machine, but any attempt to play any file just causes that file to show "stopped."

Restarting the program seems to be the only way to get it running again.

FWIW, the log of the Media Server (on the serving machine), says:
streaming done
sharing thread exiting

I've tried a number of things including (I believe) disabling any power save options that could have possibly been responsible.  Thoughts? I've had this happen now and then in the past, but it *seems* to have gotten worse.

Thanks.

No network problems that I''m aware of. It's hardwired 100 Mbit and the problems occur when there's no other activity going on.

can be 2 things:
the source from where yo stream
or your connection.
But ,as far as i know not Mj.
You may try with any other player and have the same problem

Update:

I moved my client system to another ethernet port on my LAN and it's now run for 12 hours -- which it hasn't done for a long time. So it does seem to be network related. Still don't really understand it because both ports seem to work OK for other things. Must be some slight flakey on one port that does something the streaming is sensitive to but  I don't have the gear to do a real diagnosis.  In any case, it seems to work now.

Thanks for the suggestion.
