Window Media Error 0x8007020
« on: October 21, 2003, 12:30:43 pm »

I am a registered user of Media JukeBox 8.0, when playing songs from the Play List, it plays for awhile and then I get an Error Box.  “Playback Engine Media Jukebox is unable to acquire license for this file.  Window Media Error 0x8007020” What’s wrong? :-\

It may have something to do with

your playing a windows media file and

you may have windows media beta 9, windows media 9 or older version installed.

do you know what version of windows media you have installed?

what version of MJ8 do you have? i think this may have an effect.

MJ8 was programed before windows media 9 came out.

MC9 was programed after and they worked on this to work with windows media 9 better.

I am running Windows XP Media Player Version 5.1 ,
I did an update and Windows says it is the latest and greatest version.  I see there no way to revert back to any prior releases of Media Player.  Also I restored the license for the player, what's next?  Note, all my audio are WMAs which I am playing with Media Jukebox.

well when you install media player 9 it asks if you would like to make a backup so you can revert back, if you selected "no" then you can't go back unless you re-install windows xp.

as i said MJ8 was programed before the latest version.

jimH said last week they are thinking of releasing MJ9 not sure how they plan to do this but for owners who bought MJ8 they may get a free upgrade to MJ9

I think the jury is out on that right now.

Well thanks for the help, I guess I wasted my $24 on release 8.0 finding out that it doesn't work exactly right.
The only thing left is to wait for the new release.... (hopefully it will come soon).  I do like Media JukeBox and prefer it over MusicMatch... too bad it is flawed.

there was a 30 day trial, did you not test it?

it also worked correctly before microsoft changed media player and you installed it on your computer.

it may have it's problems but you can not run some windows 98 programs on windows xp due to changes.
