Does that mean that mean I need to put the full set of files in Custom Art or just the ones I've customised (or should I say fretwalker has customised!)?

Nice new feature! ;D

Does this replace the <Art> section of the main.xml you once talked about?
Could it also include the "Send To" subdirectory?

Theres one annoyance I've been meaning to mention.

When you update to a new build.
Tools/Options/Encoding.
The Quality does not stick if you have changed it from the default.

Thanks,

It's been awhile.  Haven't had a chance to really do much with MC except make it play but...

  • Open - Date Opened: 2003/09/09   Priority: Low
    Folder Displayed Twice
In My Computer, if a folder is dragged to a new location it appears two times.

BUG: MC seems to have problems with synchronized files...

Some setup in case it's important:
All machines are running Windows XP SP1.

I have a home "server" machine that holds the original library and .mpc files.  The drive on that machine holding the stuff is D:\ and I have D:\ mapped on all my other machines to the same location.

On this laptop, I also mapped the D:\ drive and then I made one of the subfolders available offline D:\Music\Albums.  I then created a new library on the laptop and duplicated it from the library on the "server".  So, when I'm connected to my home network, I can play anything available in the library since D:\ is mapped, but when I disconnect I still have the D:\Music\Albums directory available so my music goes with me.

This works just fine for playing files, but the following things are broken:
1) MC can't update any of the synchronized files tags even though if I check them, the files are not set READ-ONLY
2) MC crashes if I choose a synchronized file in the media library and select AW->File Properties->File Type Info
3) MC pops up an error dialog "PlaybackEng - the parameter is incorrect." if I browse to My Computer\D:\Music\Albums.  When I click OK, another dialog pops up saying "Gathering information and updating view...".  It never seems to finish if left alone, clicking CANCEL only deactivates the button, but clicking on Playing Now does make it go away.

I still see a problem with Random play in .279 that I do not see in version 9.0:

With Random Play toggled on, when you double click on an .m3u file (MP3 playlist) or if you launch a playlist using Media Scheduler with the following command:

/Play TREEPATH=Playlists\mixes\<playlist name>

1. Playing now is not cleared out before loading the new playlist
2. The playlist will not load Randomly.

If I right-click on a column header in the file list view, choose Save This View > For All Locations then click Yes, columns to show and sorting are reset to the install default the next time MC is started... which negates all my careful column/sorting setup  ;)

Agreed!! It helps a lot for changing the default and not having it overwritten on upgrade

Please not!!!!! I would still regard being able to customise art/icons etc. per skin as almost a "requirement" for any self respecting skinnable app! :D

Again - please!!! :)

These "skinning" features are really exciting. It is also a way of pulling in more of the "skinning" community - who will run software, if it has skins and designs that will match the rest of their computing environment - who otherwise may be less inclined to use MC.

Bug - Action Window Drawing
The "Click here to continue" button that replaces the "Drag and drop files here" text of the "Burn CD" dialog in the AW does not support transparency of PNG files or the defined "TransColor" of the "Frame_Button". (Win2K only?)

Cosmetics - Appearance of large icons in AW
The "CDBurn.png" that is used as the icon for the "Burn CD" dialog in the AW has a size of 200x200 pixel. But the large icon is drawn with max. 128x128 pixels since some builds... so the icon looks a little bit blurred (and "nibbled off" at the left border...). It looks much better when the "CDBurn.png" is already scaled to 128x128. As I don't own a handheld, I can not say what happens with the "Handheld.png", but I guess it might be similar... Here is a scaled CDBurn.png to try.

Cosmetics - Appearance of "Burn CD" dialog
The "flying papers" animation in the "CD Burning Progress" dialog does not support transparency (Win2K only?).

Bug - Frame Drawing
The "Select Folder" options dialogs show the selected path twice, once outside the box...

I confirm this bug.
In order to bypass the problem I've resaved the view for each child-view, but obviously the process is not optimal.

The tree window doesn't have an horizontal scroll bar as it had in 9.0.
Is it possible to add one?
Thanks

Random doesn't seem to be working for the most part in .279. I have one smartlist that will play three or four songs in a row for the same artists, and it also likes to play only two or three of the same artist, and another autosmartlist for an artist that is only play the 4 or 5 star songs in order by album and title.

I'm not sure if this is a bug, but if you take an MP3 which has a full length date (10/13/2000 or something like that) and Update the tags (from the library) then update the library (from the tags), it strips away all but the year from the date.  Is this the way it's supposed to work, or is it something which isn't supposed to happen ?

Are you closing the dialog with the OK button? (we can't reproduce this)

Thanks Matt for this suggestion. It solved the problems I indicated. Can this and any other new commands be added to the command line parameters document?

Also, I can't seem to get ToggleShuffle to work in Media Scheduler

/ToggleShuffle

Does not change continuous to Random play.

Thanks!

It might be specific to network drives.  All of my music is on a server on my network.  This happens whether the folder is being moved on a Unix server via Samba shares or a Windows server.

If this happens consistently then try shutting down all interface plug ins that you have running and tell me if it still happens.
