Restoring missing files?
« on: October 20, 2003, 05:38:48 pm »

I seemed to have screwed up my Library and I can't find a way to fix it...  All of my tracks are missing, and have the red "x" in the icon.  Is there a way to restore them, or change the directory MC9 is looking for the tracks in?  They're all on my PC still, just moved to a new directory.  (BTW, when I tried moving them back to the old directory they still won't work)

Thanks for the help!

Use "Import"

And The Option To Remove Files That Do Not Exist.

Won't that kill all my playlists?  I was hoping to retain my playlists...

yes

using other programs to move and rename the files will always come with there own problems.

This almost makes me wish MC had the option to not automatically delete files from playlists if they're removed from the library.  I recently had a drive failure that caused me to lose a significant portion of my MP3s which caused some playlists I had created for future sets and mixes (as a DJ) to be deleted.  Now can I not only not remember what the tracks and orders were, I can't even remember what CDs they originally came from.

It's really annoying.

Chek the values for the filename fields in the tag info.  You want that exact filename in that exact path.   I had a 'Rename files from properties' go bad once and the library had the old path for the file but the files themselves were moved.  I updated the Filename(path) field, refreshed the view, and bingo - no red 'X's.

One you've imported files into MC you can't move them outside of it.
