Copy and Paste does Cut and Paste
« on: November 03, 2003, 06:03:22 pm »

.... copy and paste methodology of MC, which up to now has NOT used the Windows standards or terminology.

Does using the right click "copy" and "paste" functions in the MC "My Computer" tree actually "copy" the files rather than "moving" them, which it currently does.  I've always wondered why the right click menu in MC's My Computer tree doesn't simply include "cut" as well as "copy" and "paste," which would make it work in the standardized Windows way.  I realize that we can use the "Move/Copy Disk file" option in the tools menu, but to have the "copy" and "paste" commands actually MOVE the files seems very illogical to me.  Not only does this go against the extablished Windows standard, it is actually grammatically incorrect (i.e. what MC does is "cut" and paste, not "copy" and paste.)

Thanks,

Larry

The problem is that the destination decides the behavior.

If you cut from a playlist, and paste to an artist in Media Library, what do you want to have happen?  What if you had copied instead?

What if you cut from Media Library to a playlist?

It's confusing...
