MCC Message Question...
« on: November 07, 2003, 05:14:10 am »

Acouple of questions (in the hope of saving some hair :)...

Using MCC Is there a way to play a specified playlist?
If so... if the playlist was a smartlist - is there a way to reload it

Some Background:  I have a smartlist which contains all tracks of a randomly selected album, I want to play this smartlist and on command, play another randomly selected album

Here's hoping!

I don't know about the MCC messages (I don't normally use them), but I am doing exactly what you are looking for with the mjextman.exe tool.

mjextman.exe /PlayReplace treepath=Playlists\SmartListFoo

Will do exactly what you want - the only time I noticed oddities were when the playlist was actually visible in the MC window - it wouldn't get refreshed then.

The other problem is that if you run this command twice (the second one before the first is done and music has started), you will get an error from MC in the form of a dialog box (really annoying).

Thanks - I can't seem to get mjextman working with Girder - only windows messages

Anyone use mjextman with text commands in Girder 3.2?

Yup - setup is:

OS tab
Execute command
File: mjextman.exe
Step Size: /PlayReplace treepath=Playlists\Foo
Startup options: Default

The .gml file included in the MC install also has examples of mjextman.exe commands - I forget exactly where it is installed, but it is under the Program Files/J River/MediaCenter directory.

Thanks - Finally got soemething working, I didn't rrealise you needed quotes around playlist names with a two word title eg. "Top Hits"

I can now get standard playlists working but smartlists won't

Any clues? (MC v9.1.295)

The particular smartlist in question... [Media Type]=[Audio] ~n=1 ~a

Altough the problem appears to be on all of my smart lists

Hmm - I've never had to use quotes, but, hey, if it works, good! :)

As for smartlists, to be honest, all of the ones I have hooked up are smartlists and they have all worked the same way.

One thought: where is the MC tree are your smartlists?  Did you put them in a group under the playlist tree item?  If so, you'll need to add the group name to the treepath parameter (ie: "treepath=Playlists\MySmartlists\Smartlist1").

Got it working now - thanks
I got around the running twice problem by putting a girder anti-repeat wait on the IR command
and a few WAIT lines in the GML to allow MC to catch up with Girder

Cheers

Yeah - I've done the same, but the problem is that some smartlists take longer to queue than others and I feel like I am constantly tweaking the girder waits.

I've asked JRiver to fix it, but got no response.
