Hi guys,

I got a big problem. Recently I modified my mp3 tags with custom tags like "orig. composer", different dates and some others. Lately I had to reinstall my system and therefore also media center. I saved all the custom tags in the mp3 file. but now I want to import them, but MC does not show these fields. I don't know the names either.

how can I get the fields back including the name of the field and the content?

maybe look in the tags window for the field names to see if they are in there.

and add the fields and then re-import

you mean the "tag info" windows? no, they are not there and also the content is not listed in there. but thanks for your support.

if I put my mouse above the mp3 in the explorer i get a info-field with info like this:



so, the content is there. but it seems, that all the custom fields were stored in Comment-Fields.

I tried different applications to get field names or any other "encoded" field names inside of the Comment. but there doesn't seem to be any field name...

any ideas?

you need to add the fields as they were created in mc before then re-import.

also:

you can also access the comment fields thru a good tag editor like dr tag it allows you to see more than one comment tag.

Did you back up your library?  You should do this regularly.  I do it before implementing new builds of MC, and as these are quite often I always have a fairly recent back up of my MC library.  If possible keep the back up on a separate drive or at least a separate partition from your system drive.

Thank you very much. it worked. Dr Tag shows also the Tag names, so I could create the fields in MC.

Perhaps you're right Thx alot. I will do that. But I forgot it last time. Bad fault. I'll do it regularly now.
Are the custom fields also backed up and will be restored after a reinstall?
