I seem to remember there being an option to eliminate 'hiss' and 'pops' from recordings.  I thought it was in Media Editor, but I can't figure out how to do it.

I have a live recording (POE - 1997) that I downloaded as a mono 192 mp3 in 3 parts.  I spliced the parts together, edited out the commercials (Westwood One - In the Zone), split the track into stereo, normalized, and equalized.  It sounds REALLY good now, for a live 'bootleg', but there's still too much 'hiss' for my taste.

Please help.

you must have been dreaming, it has never had that option.

however if you play with the EQ you can filter out some if not all of the hiss

Does anyone know if there are any plans to incorporate such features?

I downloaded a trial of Magix Audio Cleaning Labs and tried it out.  WOW, what a difference.

Might have to buy that one.

Maybe J River should contract to allow us to use 'filters' like that made by other comapnies for an additional small fee.  magix wants $20, but I'll only use a small portion of thier entire program, I'd be quite happy to pay $5 for the hiss/noise elimination filter.

Just a thought, might be faster/easier than trying to write one of thier own.

when you buy it you still need to pay for the mp3 encoder ($14.00 or so)

I'll probably just export as a .wav file (no extra encoding) and import into MC, then encode as .mp3.

Buy a new CD with that $14.
