Multiple Artists

I have a few mix CDs and compilations, and they're all tagged correctly with the Artist name.  But, they're listed as (Multiple Artists).  Why?  How do I change this?

Thanks!

Bryan,

You are probably referring to the 'Multiple Artist' listing under either Album Artist or Album Artist (auto). This is a way to reflect the fact that the particular CD that a track is from is a compilation. If your Artist information is correct, what would you want to change this to?

Steve, I suspect Bryan is looking at his compilations on his iPod where they will be shown as (Multiple Artists). Bryan, right click on your iPod and select Artist Field (I think) and set it to Artist.

This seems to be an FAQ with the iPod plugin so maybe should go in the first post of the iPod support thread.

Phill Lee:

I was going to say that it wasn't just on the iPod, but in the Media Library as well.  You were on the mark about the option to change the Artist Field to Artist.  I did that in quite a few places, and I didn't even know you could add columns!  I have four columns now - Rating, Artist, iPod (smartlists), and Album.  Now I could hide the left pane and navigate through those for most of the time.  Sweet!  ( = Thanks! )  8)
