Problem: Recording source only lists 'Microphone'
« on: November 26, 2003, 05:41:36 pm »

Im trying out Media Centre in order to record stuff thru my line-in port, i.e Minidisc, Records, etc.  When I go to Recorder Setting and select Recording Source it only lists 'Microphone' and 'Mixer'.  There is no line-in option  :-[

Anyone know what's going on?

Im using XP and have a Creative Audigy Audio card

I have a Creative Extigy and Mixer is ok.
Because using this sound card is not like using Line-in.
You can see it when setting volume.

Give it a try ,maybe it is the same with the Audigy

If I select 'Mixer' as the source the output file is completely silent.

1. In the Creative audio mixer is the Line In Mute(at the bottom of the slider) unchecked?

2. Or, right click on the speaker icon in the quick launch bar and open volume controls. You should find Line In there, try adjusting level there.
If Line In isn't there, go to options>properties in the mixer window, Then click on Recording, then select Line In.

I'm running win2k/extigy. This also worked with a soundblaster card.
