There was no confirmation from JRiver that such a product would be released.  It was just an idea that was floated a few months back.

Sounds to me like putting a Toyota 1600 engine in a Chevy Suburban... Taking away most of the good features.

I'm not sure how resource-heavy MC is, but it seems to be using up a lot of system resources when I run it.  I don't need ripping functions ever, and rarely burn stuff, and don't care about the visualizations, etc., so if not having that stuff makes it run leaner, I say go for it.

I'm guessing here but.....

If MC are going to go down the route of a 'pay to download music' route, then I would imagine that it would make sense to produce a free version of MC/MJ.  Otherwise they greatly limit their potential income from 'selling' music downloads.

They may even be working on it at the moment. ?

Instead of a stripped version , can be a version with modules.

Do you want to install the audio part of Mc?
Do you want to install the multi-media part of MC?

Like it ,if you do only music , you do not get all the multimedia stuff in your way.

And the same full price ,you install all or not

I'd rather just have it all but have more control over what is displayed.  I HATE all the crap in the tree that I don't use.
