Using TheaterTek or Sonic Decoder with MC
« on: December 03, 2003, 02:29:50 pm »

Looking into using MC on my HTPC but have a question: how 'integrate' can TheaterTek be made to be with MC, or else can one use the Sonic Decoder pack with MC?

Searching on "TheaterTek" finds only 3 threads, which hint that some sort of integration is possible but no great details.

Are there any details about this subject on-line somewhere?

Cheers

BTW, I'm NOT a llama.  :P

Directshow filter allocation is based on 'merit'... For apps that dont hard code a filter into its use (WinDVD / PowerDVD / Etc) they either get the default (highest merit) filters or they use a way of defining thier own merit system like Zoom Player.

This can be edited through the registry or by using the merit editor in Zoom Player.

See this post I made on the topic.

Thanks very much for that information, I had long wondered how when several codecs and filters are on the system how any particular program selected which to use.

That's just what I needed to know.  :D

BTW, is the 'AVS' you mention AVSForum?  I drop by there for projector info, never thought to check out the HTPC forum.
