HI,

Just came across this on dpreview.com

It looks like Microsoft wants to charge manufacturers of portable devices that use flash cards such as cameras, mp3 portable, etc... for the use of the FAT file system that they developed back in 76.

With the market for such devices being quite wide it will mean a lot of money for Microsoft. I did not know they had some cash problems ?

Well, I saw a TV report about some of those (very young...) soldiers and their X-Boxes sponsored by M$. There were some - mmh - apprehensively aspects shown in that report that made me angry and doubt if this "Operation Live Connections" is what is needed to "brings overseas troops closer to family" (there would be nothing wrong if it would just be about that...).
But it's getting very OT... forget it.

Anything that will make the troops' stay over there less hellish is fine by me. It would be hard to stay alert (and alive) without some means of recreation...whatever that might be.
