Signal Degradation
« on: December 09, 2002, 01:02:18 pm »

Hi,

This is not adirectly about the software, but I  have ran a cable from my computer to my stereo system (about thirty feet) and there seems to be serious degredation in the sound quality.  How do you guys accomplish the hook up to home stereos?  It is a high quality marantz with Bang and Olusen speakers.  It should play better than my dell and the stock harmon kardons that came with it.

I played a cd on the computer and then played the same CD on the stereo for a comparison.

Most either have the comp closer to the amp or use a SP/DIF (digital - either optical or coax) connection. Your computer (soundcard) would need a SP/DIF out port and your amp would need a SP/DIF in port (or a separate DAC).
