MJ Support for mpga files
« on: December 03, 2002, 12:11:28 pm »

I have downloaded some music files that have extension mpga
I am having problems trying to download to media jukebox.

Does Media Jukebox support this type of music file?? If so, how can I get it to work?

Thanks

MPGA could stand for a lot of things such as Multi Programmable Gate Array or MPG Archive or even Minnesota Pro Golfer Association (best golfers in the world when temp drops to -40°F and there's 3 feet of snow on the ground).

Change the extension to mp3 and then try playing it.

mpga stands for mpeg audio file.  I've tried changing it to mp3 and I still can't open the file in MJ.

In DOS the extension says it's a mp3 file but in windows it's a mpga file!!!  strange but true!!

any suggestions how to fix this?

They sound like very old (layer 1) audio files. Are they worth getting going? Is there anyway you could make the smallest file accessible so I can download it and look at it?

klm

If your still around...

In MJ if you go to Settings>Options>File Associations and look for mpga you will find it. Check the box next to it. Should fix you up.

Thanks for all your help.

I actually deleted all the mpga music files because it was causing too much hassle and the more I played around with it the more I was frightened I would mess up my whole PC.

I did have a look in the MJ file associations but I don't have the mpga extension listed.  I have mpa and mpg but not mpga!!!

Doesn't matter now.  I'll just have to try again with some other files.

Thank you   :)

Out of curiosity....are you running v8 (b393) or v9? It's there "in spades" on v8.
