Transfer to Handheld - preserve original folders
« on: December 25, 2003, 08:01:54 pm »

Hi, fellow MC-lovers!

So, I just got my new Handheld MP3 player for Christmas, and I have been using MC9 to transfer files to it.  It mounts as a drive letter when you connect it via USB.

When I choose a Playlist, and drag it to the Handheld, it queues all the files in that playlist to go into the root directory of the MP3 player.

I want the files to go into the same directory on the handheld that they came from on my PC.  I would have a real mess if I tried to put everything in the root directory.

The handheld is a 20GB Archos Recorder V2.

Also, I see some talk about plugins for handhelds, but what does a handheld plugin do?  Is it true that no plugin is necessary if the handheld mounts as a drive letter?

Thanks!

Soundman,

No plugin is necessary. Right click on your drive letter under CD, DVD and Handhelds and you will see an option for something like 'Select root directory', this will allow you to designate a root path where your files will go.
