I am considering purchasing a Universal Remote for my home theater system. I want to buy the Home Theater Master MX-500 or 700 remote and would love it if I can use thus remote to control my mp3 library on the computer. Here is the site for this remote http://www.remotecentral.com/mx500/index6.htm

I'm in the process of programming my Marantz 5200 to be fully MJ-aware. Bear in mind that remote control of a computer is not a straightforward task. There are lots of options & a lots of control possibilites, but with those choices comes complexity.

You'll need to build/acquire some IR hardware to receive the signals from your remote, then find an interface program to control MJ (I use Girder).

Actually, if all you're going to do with the remote is control MJ, buy an IRMan receiver to hook up to your serial port, then use MJ's own IRMan plug in.  It's about as simple as you can get.

If you want to control multiple applications or do more complex stuff, then you'll need girder or my preference uICE in addition to the receiver which will then forward commands on to any application you want.
