CD text writing
« on: January 01, 2004, 05:10:52 am »

I'd like to have the title and artist displayed when the CD's I burn are played.  According to the help files in my Media Center 9.1, the supported CD burners that do text writing are listed at:
http://www.goldenhawk.com/faq_body.htm#cdtext
and they are:

Hewlett Packard 7500 / 8100 / 8200 / M820e / 9100 / 9200
Plextor 4220T (requires firmware 1.02 or higher)
Plextor 8220T
Ricoh 7040 (requires firmware 1.20 or higher)
Ricoh 7060 / 7080 / 8040 / 9060
Sony CRX100E / CRX110E / CRX120E / CRX140E / CRX140S
Teac CD-R56S / CD-R58S (requires firmware 1.0J or higher)

Is this a complete list of burners that do text-writing with Media Center, or are there others?  If there are others, how could I find out which ones they are?
        Thanks!        Neil

There are definitely others because the writer in my PC does. Its listed as

Quote
Burning /  Drive D: SAMSUNG  CDRW/DVD SM-308B   Addr: 1:0:0  Speed:1  MaxSpeed:8  BurnProof:No
Test mode: No /  Eject after writing: Yes /  Direct decoding: No /  Write CD-Text: Yes
Use playback settings: No /  Normalization: None

in my MC system info. I dont know if theres a more complete list anywhere though. Im assuming youve tried it with your current hardware and it doesnt work?

FWIW my Pioneer A06/106 DVD burner writes CD-TEXT even when MC10 is set to NOT write CD-TEXT

I checked it on System Info and found text writing wasn't enabled.  I set it up in Options.  I'll see what I'll see when I burn a CD.
