Problems with playing some .mpg files
« on: January 15, 2004, 04:44:13 pm »

Dear fellow users,

Have any one of you had any troubles playing certain .mpg files?  By that I mean MC9.X just doesn't recognize the file.  The files that could not be played cannot be imported or shown when browsed inside of MC9.  However, other players such as RealOne, WMP, Quicktime, powerdvd can all play those unplayable files by MC9...

Does anyone have any comments or suggestions?  Is there something wrong with the MC9's mpeg codec?  I have tried those files on different computers and the result is the same.

Thanks for your reply in advance.

Erwin.

I've had similar experiences with MPEG video files. I think it might come down to 'error tolerance'. I see a lot of mpg files with multiple timing/keyframe errors. Perhaps the threshold for the severity or number of these errors is lower within MC. Or, possibly, it's goblins  ;)
