Is there any way to have MJ8 either not import duplicate files or to at least ask if you want to import a duplicate file?  At times I have accidentally reimported files that were previously imported and I have to go find out which ones they were to get rid of the dupes.  It seems to me that in an older version, the dupes just didn't get imported.
