Enqueue, Hairstyle, and Fullscreen
« on: January 03, 2004, 02:40:41 am »

Perhaps I am going nuts, but is there a setting that stops MC from going to Fullscreen when I enqueue a file in hairstyle mode?  It also jumps to fullscreen when I click "play".  I don't want this to happen either.

I have set "Jump on Play" in options to none, but it doesn't seem to do anything.  I want to toggle to fullscreen manually.

I had several friends over last night and we had a great time in Hairstly building "The First Playlist of the Year" as a group....but it was incredibly frustrating to have to toggle back from fullscreen every time we enqueued something. That said, the new Hairstyle overall is leaps and bounds better than the old one.

So, any ideas?

Have you tried to rightclick on display area and: "Hairstyle Options->Auto-hide"?

You know...I looked at that screen a thousand times and for some reason "Auto Hide" registered in my mind as auto-hiding the toolbars in fullscreen instead of auto-hiding the hairstyle

Yep, the first time I saw this ,I thought the same thing.

Needs a better name.

Perhaps the little "selected" indicator should change to a new color or a different symbol or something

Well I have OSD, but you are right for people that dont.

My biggest prob. with Hairstyle is that the songs selected (highlited) dont clear, when play or enqueued
is hit.

So if you want to play another selection from the album, you have to clear the others manually.

Another item I would like is a keyboard cmd. for enqueuing, that I could prog. into the remote.

Its sort of a pain going back to the menu all the time.

Just my thoughts.

Griff,

Good points.  Once I've "played" or "enqueued", why do I still want the selections highlighted?  It's not like I'll *ever* want to requeue them right away.  Is there an MMC for "enqueue"?

How about an MCC for "Add to Playing Now"?

Do you do this via Girder or something

"uICE"

I prefer it over Girder.

And since Girder is going to charge 20 now, Take a look at uICE they have a 30 day demo,If I remember right.

I spent soooooo much time getting Girder going...but it does look nice and clean.

Well than stick with it.

A long time ago, I swiched to uICE because the responce time of the remote was quicker and the config. was better.

Which remote do you use

Remotes

There are 4 in the house, all RFs.

3 ATI and one Nvidia.

ATI you can change the remote ID so they dont conflict.

(you should see what happens when they are the same ;D )

uICE is used on my main mach. and the XPC.

The Nvidia uses X10 drivers and I cant remember the results useing it with uICE. I got The Nvidia when I purchase a G4 personal to compare with ATIs AIW. After useing AIW since the first board produced, I figured it was about time to try something else.

It was a piece of crap compared to ATI AIWs.

So now its on my daughters mach.

If I get some time this WK, I will try uICE on the X10 again.

But if you went thru all that work with Girder, Then stay with it.

Take care

The following is a little offtopic :)

Hmm... uIce looks interesting, but I suspect it won't be powerful enough for my use (I like the plugins & API for Girder, as well as the LUA scripting)... but I'll download it and check it out anyway, never judge a book by its cover they say :)  (I -suspect- it may be a little like comparing WMP to MC).

Griff: ATI RF Remotes... I've been considering using these for multi-zone remoting, how many different ID's can you set on them so they don't clash?

Nice, I don't think I'll need more than 16 independant audio zones for a while :)

[/offtopic] - (back to the Hairstyle :))

Just a quick Q.
I have 1 ATI at the moment so have no need to use the IDs. I have seen the option in the girder pluing to select the allowed IDs, but where do tell the remote which ID it is.
Cheers,
Rich
