What are media categories??
« on: January 09, 2004, 10:20:35 am »

About this new "categories" thing..:

How does it work? when I click on "Audio" category button, all it does is it hides Web Media from tree and Camera from action window but shows all media and all view schemes. And in hairstyle mode it does absolutely nothing. It doesn't matter if I select Audio, Image or Video, I always see all files.
Can somebody explain me how to use media categories?

Catagories allow MC to show only Audio media -or- only video media -or- only images -or- ALL of the Above.
With the Media Catagory, you should you also filter out the irrelevant views.

If clicking on 'Audio' isn't hiding the 'Media Library' tree and only showing the 'Audio' tree (plus only showing you audio tracks) then I imagine something isn't working properly.

What version of MC are you running?

If you changed your view scheme too much, it may not work as intended.

More structure will be enforced in a later build.

I download latest version allways when it is available. And Yes I have changed my view schemes. There is only my custom schemes:

Full Albums:
Album Artist(auto) (grouped) / Album Artist (auto) / Year - Album
([Media Type]=[Audio] [Complete Album]=1 ~sort=[Last Played]-d)
All Music Files:
Artist (grouped) / Artist / Year - Album
[Media Type]=[Audio]
....

Should I delete these and restore originals and how I can do it?

Fist time categories came, there was different schemes for all categories but after a few builds they werent working in hairstyle mode so I changed all my view schemes

All that matters is that you have "Audio", "Image", and "Video" scheme groups under the root of Media Library.

You can right-click on Media Library and pick "Reset All View Schemes To Default", but then you'll lose any customization.

Thanks.

Thanks Matt, I put first column "Media Type" in Media Library and now it works. Only problem is that I have only one view scheme in hairstyle and music, videos and music should have different view schemes in hairstyle too..
