Missing Copy Modes? - Advanced Ripping Settings
« on: May 30, 2004, 07:46:33 pm »

Does anyone know why there are missing "copy mode"s in the "Advanced Ripping Settings".

The help file for Media Center says that there are 6 copy modes:  Digital Large Buffer, Digital Small Buffer, Digital Unbuffered, Digital Error Correcting, Digital Secure, and Analog.

My copy of Media Center (10.0.144) only shows 3: Normal, Secure, and Analog.

For the past 6 years, I have used AudioGrabber for ripping cds. I would like to switch over to Media Center for ripping, but it definitely needs the Digital Error Correcting mode (In my opinion, the only way to go if you want an exact copy).

How do I get the other modes to show up?  :P

Secure mode is the error correcting mode.  I suspect that when the ripping engine was updated, the help file was not.

If you want to verify this for yourself, try ripping a track with MC Secure Mode, then use EAC and compare the resulting WAV files (I am not familiar with AudioGrabber, but EAC is widely regarded as the best ripper, and since the ripping engine update, MC is on par with EAC).
