MC 9.1.316 bugs?
« on: January 11, 2004, 08:27:49 pm »

I've had a number of persistent problems with MC9.1.316, and searching the boards suggests that these are common to other users. These are:

1) DVD playback: MC crashes on DVD playback with the Sonic codecs. Other DVD playback software on the same PC, same codecs, works fine. Other users report a variety of errors.

2) CD burning: I get a crash and complete system lockup when starting a CD burn. MC did work correctly immediately after a fresh install of Windows XP. However, after installing various windows updates and Theatertek DVD, it started crashing again. Other CD burning software installed afterwards works fine. Other users report faulty burns and a variety of errors.

3) Cover art: Two problems - incorrect cover art for many albums, or inability to add cover art manually. Exactly the same problem is reported by several users.

4) Sporadic slowness: MC slows down severely during some operations, impacting response to input. I've noticed this during view scheme refreshes, but other users report problems with stuttering during playback.

FWIW I'm using a new Shuttle ST61G4 with the ATI chipset on the motherboard. This is pretty new hardware and drivers/firmware etc are still evolving. However, it seems pretty stable with everything else.
