Computer Lockup when Ripping CD's

Computer Lockup when Ripping CD's
========================================

I rebooted, reinstalled, uninstalled, reinstalled, re-downloaded, and reinstalled.
I have even re-installed my OS on a new Hard disk. This occures on Version 8.x and the new 9.x beta.
No change though.

Then I am ripping an Audio CD to MP3 on my hard disk the computer will lock up.
Usually about half way through the CD, but sometimes on the first song too.

I have tried having it rip to a second drive location and that does not help.
I have tried moving my swap file to another disk and that does not help.

Here are my system specs:

Windows XP Professional SP1
AMD XP 2200 (Boxed)
512 MB 333MHz DDR Kingston ValueRAM (Single Stick)
MSI KT3 Ultra2 Motherboard (NON-RAID)
VisionTek Geforce4 TI 4600 128MB
SoundBlaster Live 5.1 Gamer
3Com 3C905c-TX NIC
LSI Logic MegaRAID i4 (IDE Raid Controller)
Artec 48x12x48 CDRW
Sony DVD-ROM 16X (model: DDU 1621)
Maxtor 20 Gig Operating System Drive
Maxtor 20 Gig Swap File Drive
-Raid Stripe Set with Parity-
Four Maxtor 80 Gig Drives in Stripe Set

I am using ALL Microsoft Certified Drivers on all my hardware.

Please let me know what I can do to fix this problem.
I purchased this software two days ago thinking it was the answer to my prayers. But, it has become the nightmare keeping me up at night.

Thank you in advance,
Stephen Christie

Things to check....
1. Does your user account have administrative priviledges?
2. Do you have latest ASPI? (v4.72)
3. Do you have latest soundcard drivers?

Uninstall v9...reinstall latest v8 AFTER everything that can be updated HAS been updated then repost your info from Help>System Info in MJ. The trick here is to get v8 working...then v9 should be a piece of cake.

Check my last post on "sending playlist files to disk. It tells how I got around the problem of burning mp3 disks.
I had no trouble burning cda disk ( ordinary music disks) but like you I couldn't burn mp3 disks.

Actually wait. I tried it again.
1. Uninstalling MJ
2. Then deleting the files form the install directory.
3. Rebooting
4. Installign MJ 8.x and checking for updates (none found)

And it rips cd's to MP3 fime! Great Job guy's!!!

I will wait till v9.x is closer to final I suppose. lol

Thanks again!
