Listen to RipCast 'Live' in MC 10?
« on: February 05, 2004, 11:27:50 pm »

Does anyone (KingSparta?) know how to stream the output from RipCast into Media Center, instead of Media Player?

Media Player keeps having to re-buffer, very annoying.  Is it possible to have Media Center just playing the mp3s as they are ripped, or just after, to avoid having to stream at all?

Thanks

it will be no better in Media Center.

it maybe your connection and the bit rate of the stream your trying to connect to.

what is the bit rate of your connection?

what is the bit rate of the stream?

you need to let Media Center Have Control Over ".PLS" files that option is in media center under "File Associations"

Cool, thanks for the help.

I have cable modem access both at home and at work.  Work actually has a higher bitrate than home (which is where I was having the problem, it's working great at work today).  I'm streaming at 160 from monkeyradio (funkyjazztechnoporn), very good music to work to.

There is an option in RipCast to associate .m3u & .pls files with ripCast on startup.  I have just unchecked that, so I'll restart it to see if it will stream to Media Center, but do I need to restart MC to have it re-associate with those types?  It is, and has been, checked to associate with those files, but is NOT checked to always take control of those types, so I'm not sure who has the control right now.

RipCast has an option to enque songs in WINAMP, for "uninterrupted listening pleasure", but I don't want to install WINAMP, so I'm not sure if that can be worked around.

I also can't see sinking to that level

about the other, I forget if i had to do anything else. but i do have "always take control of those types" checked so to keep Media Center to always play my music since it is way better than anything out there.

The only reason I've not checked it to take control is I don't want another thing running all the time if I don't need i.e. media scheduler.  Maybe I'll just check it, run MC to reassociate it, then uncheck it so it doesn't run Scheduler next time.

Do you think RipCast will still send the ripped files to MC as a playlist, instead of WINAMP, if I do as above?

try it, Just because it works well on mine don't mean it will on yours.

not sure if J River would include any support for RipCasting or not but if they do it would be nice.

only one thing i would like to know right now about ripcast and that is how they know what song is playing. i was thinking about working on something like ripcast as a plug-in in the future.

That would be very cool.

I'm very happy with my purchase of RipCast.  $19 very well spend in my opinion ;D

Back home.  Streaming like a champ, in MC.  How nice is life sometimes.

By the way, I highly recommend Monkey Radio, which is described as (funkjazztechnoporn) in Web Media.

[oh, no.  they have a limited number of connections to offer]

 :-X

I mean, that station is no good, I wouldn't even bother listening. ;)
