i'm still on 0.0.7 in the middle of a hash creation session.

What are the differences bet 0.0.7 & 0.0.8 ?

I fixed Things

There was some problems with the New options i was working on last night, and i did not get to them untill this morning.

basicly dealing with the texthash option.

normaly me also, never mess with it much but someone wanted one that did that.

Since I have been playing with a plug-in that does it and the EQ levels i can see a use for it to enhance the music a bit.

It currently is like the Ronco Showtime Oven "Set It And Forget It"

I wish i could do more with the MD5 plug-in but i kind of hit the limit for now.

I had a big problem with version 0.0.9 last night .. after a while all the last 3000 songs have the same MP3 Hash ... all other hashes are correct ! ... I thought this was fixed

well could be a few things..

did you clear the field if it already had something in it?

did you have the option on the setting page checked where it will bypass the file if it already has a hash?

You can also increase the scanning size, this sometimes will work better but slow it down.

I however have not seen this problem yet.

On thing I have never been able to figure out .. is how Randy Van Warmers 1975 hit called Just When I need You Most has the same BIN hash as Destiny's Child Jumpin Jumpin ....

They dont sound at all alike .. at all ..

Ive been using your bio, lyrics and chart finder for a bit and they're all excellent. Ive looked at the md5 master, but i cant figure out what it even does.

ive heard very good thing about it so am keen to start using it. anyone care to fill me in?

Indeed.

But "This Program Is Used To Generate MD5 Hashes This Could Then Be Used To Save The Hash To A Field And Use Media Centers Duplicate Function" doesnt mean all that much to me.

i understand that i need to create some extra fields then the program withh generate MD5hashes (whatever they are). Then what? What does that do for me?

Im sure its good, i just dont understand its utility.

well if you know how to use the duplicate fuction in mc i guess you are 1\2 way there.

I was hoping J river would allow and generate finger print data by using "analyze" fuction in MC, and you then could use the duplicate fuction with.

My program is not perfict and could be better i just do not have the knolage or money to dup into it to get it to work as good as it should. J River already has this built into MC but does not allow users to access this info to make better dup matchs on there media files.

so in MC you have a media files called

(1) Winter Wonderland
(2) Winter Wonder Land
(3) Winter Wonderland (1)
(4) Winter Wonderland (Frank Sinatra)
(5) Winter Wonderland (Solo)
(6) Winter Wonderland (Remix)
(7) Winter Wonderland (Live)

in mc if you use the duplicate fuction and use "Name" as a parm, none of them will match. but they are all the same song, same media file. the only thing that has changed is the Human entered dif data in the name field.

but if you take all of the above files and do a data check of the files you can create a checksum or hash and find that all of the files are the same. so you could delete 6 of the 7 files if you wish since they are all dups.

the other use could be:

you have 2 files in this case

Eddie Rabbitt-Classics Collection-02-Step by Step.mp3
Whitney Houston - Ultimate Dance Party - 09 - Step By Step.mp3
New Kids Onthe Block - Greatest Hits - 01 - Step By Step.mp3

but they generate the same hash.

when you play the song you hear Whitney Houston singing, this would have never generated a match in MC using the dup finder option but with a hash it would. at that point any dups can then be checked to make sure they are a sdup and removed by the user.

generating a hash is not always 100% but it could be better than relying on the human factor and that is normaly is wrong or has mistakes.

fantastic product. i did everything as you said then "f3"'d my way down my files deleting all dups 1 at a time. it was incredible that 2 songs with utterly different titles were actually the same song when i played them!!!

that is the advantage of having a higher quality Dup Checker.

hey there king,

just when i thought everything was working fine...

ive managed to get md5bin's for about 80% of my music, and was just about to run the remaining 20%. However when i run it the app flies through the remaining 20% of the files as if they already have a md5 signature (which they dont). ive tried turning the check box (only calculate md5 for files that dont have the fingerprint) on and off, but it doesnt make a difference.

Any idea what im doing wrong?

ive been playing with it for the last 2 hours. i will try and explain the problem as best i can:

if i have the checkbox on (only calculate md5 for files that dont have the fingerprint) it just flies throgh all the files even if they dont have the fingerprint.

if i disable the box it eaither does the same or recalcs each file (as it should), but it then doesnt make the changes into the fields as it should.

also i have a list of smartlists by genre - when i run md5 master on some of these it performs exactly as said above, on others it just flies through regardless of the settings

does that shed any light on to the problem?

Ok This Was Figured Out.

Since The Program Only deals With MP3's The Files That It Would Not Generate Info For Were Not Mp3's
