Incorrect length and bitrate
« on: March 06, 2004, 12:48:54 pm »

Ripped several CD's last night, mostly came out fine but for some I got the old "crazy length and bitrate" situation.

Using MP3 VBR --alt-preset fast extreme

Artist: George Harrison
Album: George Harrison (Remixed)
Name: Love Comes To Everyone
Bitrate: 32
Duration: 32:08
Track# : 1

The rest of the tracks on the CD were fine.

I ripped 4 CD's last night same problem only reoccured once, also Track 1.

Just too bizarre.

Hmm. This topic seems to come up every week or two. :)

I don't have the link handy, but try a forum search for vbrfix.

It's a bug, but not necessarily an MC10 bug. I often see the same problem with mp3s from a friend who uses Musicmatch to rip/encode.

This shouldn't happen.  MC 10 does tests to catch VBR files that start as silence (32 kbps) and don't have a proper Xing header.

Can you send one of the files MC 10 gets wrong to matt @ jriver.com (no spaces)

Thanks.
