I would like to return to version 8.333
« on: November 23, 2002, 05:19:53 pm »

I downloaded the MJ version 9 Alfa after receiving notice via email of the free upgrade.  Though I like some of the new options, it is much too "robust" for my needs.  Plus I am so familiar with my 8.333 version that I have no interest in working around any new bugs, at this time anyway.

I am having a problem returning to my last version after the upgrade to 9.  I get a "You are attempting to open a database that is too new for this version of Media Jukebox.  Please upgrade to the newest version of Media Jukebox."  Making MJ inaccessible, I received this after doing a system restore on XP Pro, assuming this would bring everything to MJ prior to MJ9.  Also, I have tried to reinstall MJ8, but the issue still remains.   :-[

Please help,
Dante

I did try to find this the back up from C:\Program Files\J River\Media Jukebox\Data\Media Jukebox 8.0 Upgrade Backup, as per the information on the MJ web site,  "RESTORING Version 8 after Version 9 has been installed:
Before installing version 8 again, you must copy the jmd files from the backup directory above to the original location:
C:\Program Files\J River\Media Jukebox\Data  (this is the default location -- yours may be different).
Then install version 8."

However, no folder for backups are in the data folder!  Is this because I failed to follow the proper process, as noted in first message?  ops!  Now what? :P

It is true, the hand is quicker than the eye.

Dante, that was also my experience and my reflections exactly. Also I lost the CDDB option which is a major drawback with v9 and new v8 licenses. You will have to uninstall v9 and reinstall v8 which will then be 388 (if you don't have an earlier version stored on your comuter) and rebuild your library. I used the opportunity to reorganize my files so it was not entirely wasted.

Dante

If you have A Early Version You Must Completley Uninstall MJ9 To Include The Library And Then Install MJ8 And Then Rebuild The Library Database.

This Is Due To The New Database Format That The Older Version Is Not Compatable With.

MJ 9 Is Beta Now, And The Alpha You Have May Have To Many Bugs, If Your Not Using The Current Version Of MJ9 9.0.82 You May Wish To Upgrade First Before Going Back.

I Did wait a few months before going to the alpha because of Problems, like most betas It does have problems.

King, what are you saying here. Is it possible to download a pre 388 v8? The image-bugs appeared in 387 I think.
