Ripping multiple CDs ?s
« on: March 11, 2004, 09:46:30 pm »

I've finally decided to start ripping again.  I thought MC would now (as of 10-15 builds ago) auto rip CDs in succession.

I started ripping with v.89 and noticed it was the same as before, it said to insert a CD to continue and nothing happened when I inserted a new CD.  i have now installed .90 and it has a link to click to forge it to start ripping the new CD, but it is still not automatic.

First, I thought MC already handled CD changes automatically, did it change again and I missed it?

Second, it this just a stepping stone on the way to having MD auto-rip CDs in succession, preferrably with MC  updating the tags in the end or background?

Finally, is it actually supposed to do this, and I just can't see the option?

Thanks

Also noticed that the "show list" does not show the currently ripping info.  i have to select some other item and then either click on show list or select the device to see the actual current CD info.

Auto-ripping for multiple CDs worked for me. I didn't try it with build 90, it was a couple of builds ago. I looked in the Options and didn't see any settings that would really effect this. When my batch ripping was done, it looked up the the cover art all at the end.

If you have more than one CD reader, can you rip simultaneously 2 or more CDs? That would be interesting...

Do you have the "autorun" feature enabled on your computer? If so, MC should auto-detect whan a new CD is inserted. If now, you need to click that link to start ripping the next CD. Quite a while back we used to check for new CD's on a  timer, but that was causing problems for a lot of users so we now depend on "autorun" to inform MC when a CD is inserted or removed from the drive.

I honestly don't know if I have it on or not, I would guess I don't, but, for the life of me, I cannot find where to check this option.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

run regedit.exe, browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdrom  and make sure Autorun has a value of 1, then restart.

I prefer to set features through the normal menu's of Windows.
There must be an option for that!

I think this is what you are looking for?  Not sure if it's the same feature.

For Windows XP: go into Explorer and right-click the CD drive. Select Properties, then select the AutoPlay tab.
