Ipod and MC - Is it worth it?
« on: March 17, 2004, 05:33:44 am »

I really like MC version 10.92  but want to know whether it is really worth all the effort one has to go to in order to get it to work with MC.

First off is it stable?

Can you import Audio books downloaded from Itunes or Audioble.com

Is it as good or I assume better than iTunes and if so what makes it better.

How easy is it to go back to iTunes if it doesn't work for me?

Thanks for your help

Cheers Dave

Hi Dave!

I really like MC version 10.92  but want to know whether it is really worth all the effort one has to go to in order to get it to work with MC.

- No extra effort for me for get it to work.  Not sure your concern here.

First off is it stable?

- iPod support for me is now quite stable now that playlist sync issues are resolved.

Can you import Audio books downloaded from Itunes or Audioble.com

- I have 6 audible books on my iPod presently.  The earlier glitches in this areas are now resolved as well.

Is it as good or I assume better than iTunes and if so what makes it better.

- This is a personal preference issue.  I manage ALL my media with MC10.  Music, Photos, Video, TV Tuner...and it plays nicely with my TiVo.  One stop shopping for me!!

How easy is it to go back to iTunes if it doesn't work for me?

- Simple.

Thanks Mark

I believe you do need to format the Ipod and set it up to work with MC.  What would be the best way to do this and be able to ensure that everything currrently on my Ipod gets back on again? ::)

How does one import the audio books?

Thanks again

Yes, Dave, you do need to "format" the iPod to work with MC10.  This is a ~2 min job, no big deal.

Once formatted, you simply need to IMPORT your music to the MC library, which entails little more than pointing MC to your music directories.  All my music folders in contained under single parent folder, so this is very easy.  The files are not actually "moved" by this action...you are just telling MC where the music resides...

Audiobooks are added to MC in this same fashion.  Simply point MC to your audible books, they get added to the library.

To get books onto your iPod, simply sync your iPod to MC.

Its about that easy!

PS>  "Formatting" the iPod for use with MC will ERASE the contents of your iPod, so be sure copies of your music files still reside on you hard disk...or you will lose them...

Good luck!

Dave,

When viewing the files on iPod from MC, right click and select the 'Send files to PC' option.
