hi dudes,

as the cddb insert tags function is not working properly, i was looking for alternatives and found them. however, after editing the id3tags with an external tool (thereby keeping the file name), even after a refresh of the library it showed the state before without id3tags. only cutting and pasting the file somewhere else followed by pasting back into my library dir and import fixed this.

That's because MJ doesn't "know" you updated the tags.

To make MJ aware you can update in two ways:
1. Delete the file(s) from MJ and then run Tools>Import Media (very fast)
2. Go to File>Library>Update Library and check the the "Update all database fields" (slower but thorough)...it's like clearing out your whole library and reimporting.

Use YADB instead of CDDB. Then you won't need an external tag editor.

if sb can show me how i can retrieve tags for single mp3 (NOT entire cds) using YADB, i will gladly try it out!

It's not that YADB couldn't handle single file lookups...it's just implemented in MJ v8 yet...but that ability is a sure thing in v9. So yeah..keep doin what ure doin.
