View scheme search
« on: April 14, 2004, 09:23:30 am »

8. NEW: Added new view scheme component type "Search" -- allows searches in the tree, panes, and Theater View.

I don't understand this. I've added Search to a view scheme, and I see all of the letters in the column. I click on them, and I can see that something is changing, but there's really nothing discernible. What is it supposed to do?

You're building a search string letter by letter.  You could try it in Theater View for a more graphical display of the results.

I've seen it work in Theatre View and it works well. It doesn't seem to do anything useful at all in MEGA-ME, though. I tried adding one column of Search. I click on J. Something happens, but nothing obvious. What am I supposed to do now?

In Theatre, it's really obvious. The options build off the previous choice. But nothing like that happens in MEGA-ME. Like if I chose J, then Ju, then Jul, I end up with "Romeo and Juliet." But when I click on J in MEGA-ME, I don't get any kind of narrowed down view from which to pick Ju.

I tried adding 3 columns of search. I clicked on J. And again, nothing seemed to happen. So I clicked on U in the second and then L in the third. I have the same list of songs I had before.

So is this meant as a Theatre View only type of thing? Or am I just doing it wrong? :P

In MEGA-ME, you need to "double click" on the search items to get to the next level of the search.
