Hey thanks man!  I solved my main question within just a couple minutes of posting so just deleted my entire post.  I was also curious if there might be a plugin to speed up tracks while not affecting pitch - the Creative Player that came with my Audigy will do it, and so will the Intervideo DVD Player - but I was hoping to find something within MC to do same and that might also allow saving the results (ie, not just work on playback).
