MJ GUI is missing! Solid black tint replacement...
« on: November 19, 2002, 12:24:49 am »

Hoping someone can get back to me on this one quickly... my MJ is totally unuseable. It worked until a couple of days ago before this began to occur. Wierdest thing.

I've tried a total removal and a reboot, then a reinstall and this has not helped to remedy the problem. Tried this twice.

The version of MJ is the latest ver 8 available from website as of now.

- Windows XP Prof SP 1. and all additional updates from Windows Update available.
- 512mb DDR Ram
- Intel 845 EBG Mobo
- 2GHz P4

For an example of what I'm seeing: http://www.fusion01.com/error.gif

I would also delete the registry as this might be the problem (?) but don't particularly want to use another registry key restore (a couple left).

Please advise. Right now it's all useless!
Many thanks in advance!!?!  :-/

It's failing to load a MEGA-ME skin for some reason.

Try manually changing this registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Music Exchange\1.0\Media Jukebox\MegaSkinConfigFile

to

DISABLED

Let us know, and sorry for the hassles.

(p.s. wicked graphics at your site! bet you could make some awesome MJ skins ;D )

ok, thanks matt got the thing to work. Let me explain, I deleted BOTH folders 'JRiver' and 'Media Jukebox' both in the 'Program Files' folder.

Thing is when I reinstalled the app, it creates the 2 folders again but putsd the skin into the 'MJ' folder, not the 'JRiver' folder.

The 'J River' should not really be there, right? Shame to have two folders when one could be obviously enough. In the 'J River' folder there is: C:\Program Files\J River\Media Jukebox\Data and  the .jmd files (playlist saves etc).

All I did with the registry addition was to point to not the route within the 'J River' folder, but rather leave this out of the route altogether, so it looked in the 'Media Jukebox' folder instead. Worked like a charm.

Thanks for the comments on my site, that was a personal thing before I got sucked into the corporate industry bigtime and now do mainly online casinos!!! If I get around to doing a skin, I shall do, would be great. A skin making manual somewhere for this app or is it straight-forward?  ;)

Thanks.

If it's making 2 directories, something is a bit goofed.

If you uninstall, then erase both folders and any registry keys, then reinstall, it should clear any weirdness up.

Check out Interact->Developer's Zone above

Thanks sawtooth.

Yeah, I realised why the two folders, the one version must've installed into it, and after uninstalling I didn't remove the registry entries!

The other installed in 'Media Jukebox' and the registry for the DB wasn't pointing there. From what you told me, I fixed this - it's easy and now all's in one folder as it should be!

I'll look into the link for making of skins - would dig to get onto it. After being on a Mac for 8 years and iTunes for around 2, now on PC, this app is by far the best out there (after extensive and gruelling research) and I plan to keep using it for as long as it remains so!

Thanks Matt.
