Hello,

This is my first post...

Is there a way to have Media Center play the first 3 minutes of a song and then cross-fade to the next song and so on...

I don't think this is possible from within MC but you could do something with Girder (www.girder.nl).  Basically you would use the alarm timer plugin to initiate the play next command to MC and keep looping round every 3 minutes. You could set it up so that another command to Girder (keyboard or IR remote) would cancel the alarm timer and stop the looping.  

A drawback is that if any track is less than 3 minutes long MC will play it in full and part of the next track before skipping forward but it would then be back in sync until the next <3 min track.

I won't go into detail about how to use Girder and how to set everything up because that would take too long but at least you know it's possible.
