DSP Studio Sequence
« on: April 23, 2004, 08:54:36 pm »

How are items applied in DSP Studio?
Does the signal go to DirectX host then Replygain?
When setting output levels of a plugin it's nice to know.

Thanks.

I asked this once before but never got an answer. I still would like to know. I was also wondering what order the direct x host plugins get the signal, top to bottom or bottom to top?

I have no answer on this either.  Just to test it I set it to 8 bits and it sounded the same as 16 ?  I set it to 32 bits using ASIO on my Creamware card and had ASIO running at 32 bits also, but I couldnt hear any difference.  I'm right in assuming that once its in 24 or 32 bit mode, the signal is running at 32 bits, passed to dirctx, and returned in 32 bits to the replay gain which dithers down the signal.  Selecting no replay gain dithers the signal down to 16 bits by default.   Is this correct ?

Maybe the wave driver should be reporting 24 or 32 bits in windows before it works.   I'll test some dirctx software to see if it makes any difference.

Maybe on Ozone.

Cheers.

i sure would like it if you could change the order it applys. i have a feeling it would help me out as whenever i try to go to the jrss 4.1 or 5.1 up from 2 speaker sound it always crashes. it does so because of dfx. i think that if it did dfx before it did 5 channel then it would work fine.

God bless,
Greg

I'm using that along with the ReplayGain DSP and that is why I'd like to know the sequence of DSP plugin flow. Makes a big difference which comes first, especially when dealing with levels.
