Settings not being saved

In Tools/Options/Tree & View/View Settings I have deselected the options to Ignore Articles (a, an, the) and Allow autosize to cut off long values, but the changes aren't being saved. When I open the options panel again, they are reselected.

Also, autosizing doesn't seem to work very well. Some of the columns use a lot more space than is needed for the information that is being displayed in them (see the screenshot in the link below).
