Ripping Help - Installed new CD Drive.
« on: May 03, 2004, 10:00:44 pm »

Great software, nicely done.

Old drive fried, so I upgraded from an 8X4X32 to a 52X32X52 drive.  Ripping speed increased from 5-6 to 6-7.  Expecting a more significant increase, I checked the Advanced CD Ripping Settings and in the CD Drive: is still lists IDE-CD R/RW 8X4X32.  How do I change this?

Also, Copy mode only has Normal, Secure, and Analog.  Is this normal?  Help text implies more options.

Thanks for the help.

The drive info gets updated the first time you rip a track with the new drive. It should show the correct drive name now?
If you're ripping/encoding simultaneously and using secure rip, the speed may not improve all that much. The encoding is usually the bottleneck. Try ripping to uncompressed wave with Normal mode to see what your top speed is. Should be up around 16 to 20X I would think. You'll never see the rated 32X speed when ripping.
