software to sync to backup drive
« on: May 04, 2004, 11:04:03 pm »

I've used every search term I can think of, to no avail.

About one year ago, someone recommended software to sync music to a backup drive.  It became popular among users of MC (or at least those that tried it really liked it). I may be totally off, but I think the name of the software includes a female name (Betty? Betsy? Frida?). Or it could be a male name. Or it could be a totally made up name. It could have 10 syllables, not two... you get the picture!)

It was mentioned again just in the last few weeks by someone.

That's it!  Thank you Fixer!

(excellent. I was right about the female name. YES!)

You should take a look at SureSync as well.
It does some things that Karen's Replicator does not.

I recently tried out over a dozen synching programs (although "Karen's" wasn't one of them, I think Suresync was.)  After trying them all over a period of a few weeks, I ended up using Smartsync Pro.  This was the only one I found that had all the features I was looking for, yet was still very intuitive to learn and use.  It has straight forward approach that doesn't try to look particularly "pretty," but it is deceptively powerful and feature rich without being complicated to use.  The other apps either had a workflow that I found annoyingly complicated, or they were too simple to offer all the features I needed.

Smartsync Pro also has a lot of orginizational features that most other apps didn't offer, like shortcut creation for instant "double click" syncs, nested profile "grouping" allowing lots of customization, etc.

The website is www.smsync.com.  I highly recommend it.
