I tried to Play an AVI file on a Client MC via the Meda Server MC.
Waited about 3 minutes w/"Opening..." 'till the following error occurred:

Media Center has Encountered Critical Error #10, some essentioal component is missing or corruupted. Please Uninstall and reinstall the latest version of MC. If this error persists, report it to JRiver.

I reinstalled. The Error Persisted. I'm reporting it.

It works fantastic with the music...
Thanks!

I'm having a similar problem -- when I try to play a video file on the MC10 client, it takes a good minute to load the file.  I just sit and stare at "Opening..." for a while.  It does play eventually, but the wait makes it impractical to use MC.  I can just browse to the file over Network Neighborhood and play it in WMP with no delay.

Couch, you have a crack or a virus.

Either could cause MC to not function properly.

Do a complete uninstall, then a reinstall.

Also, some video formats may not be playable over Media Server.  It'll depend on the DirectX playback filters installed.

 :PNo Cracks:

;DNo Viruses. No Spy-Ware. No Ad-Ware. Thanks to AVG AntiVirus, Spybot S&D, and Ad-Aware.

:-\I seem to have fixed the problem to some degree...
I downloaded and installed the latest DiVx Bundle on all Client machines (Server Too.) This allows movies to play.

::)However MC is the Application that has that 2-3 minute "Opening..." before playing the movie.

???All other Apps start within a second.
