OT: media player
« on: May 21, 2004, 06:08:49 pm »

this doesn't have to do with media center, but i thought someone here might be able to help me out.  since i upgraded windows media player from version 8 to 9, it launches automatically whenever i log in.  i can't figure out how to disable this.  does anyone know how to stop this annoying behavior?

thanks,
dave

Probably one of two places:

1) A program or file in the Startup program group in your Start menu
2) An entry here in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Use an app that will show you what is in the registry, startup folders, etc. These apps will allow you to disable any item you wish.

One such is found here.

Hope it helps.
