Hi,

Have any of you (MC) guys heard about AccurateRip?

http://www.accuraterip.com

Any thoughts about whether it would be useful in MC?

Interesting, but is there a real problem to be solved?

Sounds good but I think I'd find AccurateBurn more useful.

AccurateBurn you say? I only burn cds if I want to bring music to parties or gettoghers as I don't want other to harm my cd's.

Much like user submitted CD information, this will be as good as the folks who submit the info. Personally, I'll believe EAC and my ears when they say a rip is good.

Interestingly, EAC also now supports AccurateRip.

Rather than the check against user-submitted info, I was more interested in the fact that AccurateRip determines the correct sample offset for your drive, like EAC has done for a while; I thought that functionality might be useful in MC.

Both rely on my having certain CDs to do the testing. Unfortunately, I am in a location where getting those CDs is nigh impossible.

But I did use the offset database on the site to get the info and configured EAC accordingly.

Regarding what they call key discs, why would they refer to multiple titles of the same CD?  For example, 3 different entries for Enya's Watermark.  That is, doesn't it imply 3 different, but perfect, copies??

I think it refers to different pressings of the same disc, e.g. a remastered versus a non-remastered disc.
