Hello all,

I have wanted to consolidate around one package to service all my media copying and storage needs.  MJ8 has come close but one thing it doesn't do is straight copies of a CD.  

I bought CD Creator Platinum for the copying bit and that works fine.  It has a media library piece that is still immature compared to MJ8.

So right now I own and run both packages.  I would like to run only one that has both functions.

Roxio - Could you take this as a request to add CD copying features to MJ?

Are you talking about audio CD's, or any and all types of CD's?

Of course, I knew this would get tricky (but given that I've been building or managing code for 20 years, I also understand that half a spec is no spec at all)...

Ideally, I would be talking about all CDs.  At the least, I could make do with audio CDs.  However, this would still mean that I would need another package to backup data CDs (such a package would also copy audio CDs of course which going back to my original post, is still a redundancy).

From a user perspective, a CD is a CD is a CD (even simpler, a CD is one of those silver / gold / black / etc plastic disks that I put in  my CD/DVD player and it does something).

The later assertion brings up another point:  As a media player/library/copier/etc, Media Player should be able to copy the content from all these plastic disks (possibly excluding "data" CDs).  I might postulate that this should include DVDs as well as audio CDs.  A backup and/or local copy of this type of media is equally desirable to me.

If you're only talking about Copying / Backing up Cd's, drop EZ Cd Creator and have a look at Clone CD - Faster, Easier and more Reliable ! (http://elby.ch/english/products/clone_cd/index.html)

About the Cone CD suggestion...

I tried that and found that it had a problem copying about 50% of the 10 or so CDs I tried with it.  (BTW - My hardware was supported by them.)  I raised a tech support question with them and got no response.  Hence I have ditched that product.  Given that Easy CD Creator works just fine, I do not need to look elsewhere.

However, I would still like to have it all in one package (for ease and supportability).

For ease maybe sure this is the solution.
For supportability no.

Media Jukebox is a program designed for organising and playing music. It's not a top of the range burning software. That's not it's specific area of expertise.

Specific burning software on the other hand specialises in this one area and so put all their energy into it and so offer the most functions and reliability.

The best burning software is Nero.

Just like your not amazing at everything under the sun, software isn't either. Your good at specific things and so is software
