Skinning Questions
« on: May 28, 2004, 11:04:04 am »

OK, this is probably answered somewhere, and I admit I have not really delved into it in depth yet, so please excuse me if this is a dumb question.

Is there a tutorial anywhere on creating skins for MC?  I want to create the LARGE, full view skins, not the mini skins that I see a lot of (Mega skins)?

I see that I can grab a skin and replace the files with ones of my choosing.  Laborious, but not too bad.  What I want to know is if there are exact size restrictions, are PNGs (for alpha transparency) supported, etc.  Are there options for moving displays around (say moving the tree to the right side instead of the left, etc.) or must I replace bmp for bmp?  I looked in some of the skins dirs and didn't see any skin xml or config type files, just a bunch of bmps.  That, however, does not necessarily mean that it doesn't support moving objects around on the skins via some sort of a config file.

Thanks for the help,

There are some details here:

Looking at other skins is probably the fastest way to learn.

You can't move things around, but you can change the look (and sometimes size) of basically everything on the screen.

Alpha transparency is supported in most areas.

The Developers forum may also answer some of your questions.

Thanks Brain21 -- looking forward to your first skin :)
