How to update from Media Jukebox 7.2 to 8.0
« on: November 13, 2002, 12:47:26 am »

I purchased the Media Jukebox 7.2 in april this year. Although I check for updates regularly (from the "Help" menu of MJ), I did not find until recently about the MJ 8.0 (or even beta versions of 9.0). I am a bit confused about the procedure that I have to follow to get an upgrade. In the email that I got after purchase, entitled "Buy Button Receipt", there was no "registration" number, so I am not able to follow any of the advises on the FAQ list. I did made a "licence backup" (.rrg) file, but I do not have any idea how or where I should use it.
Can somebody please explain me how to proceed with the upgrading of the jukebox?
Thanks a lot,
Claudiu

Here's how I did my upgrade back when.
First, make a BACKUP of your rrg file. Make sure that you have this file in a safe place or places.
Uninstall 7.2 and then install 8.
Get the latest version from the download page.
Run MJ and in help, restore, specify the location of your rrg file.
If everything works you are now up and running.
It might also be possible to just install v8 over the top, however it is probably safer to do the first method.
Glen.

The best thing to do is to save your licence on a floppy disc.
And restore from it
